Accessibility statement
As of August 26, 2025
1. Introduction and Objective
Hotel Albona Nova strives to make its website accessible in accordance with the Austrian Accessibility Act (BaFG), which implements EU Directive 2019/882. Our goal is to provide all users – regardless of their individual abilities or technical requirements – with the most unrestricted access possible to the information and services on our website.
The accessibility requirements are based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Conformance Level AA.
2. Compliance Status
This website is currently partially compliant with the applicable accessibility requirements. We are continuously working to identify and gradually eliminate barriers.
3. Non-accessible Content
As part of an internal accessibility audit, various content areas (e.g. hotel description, room pages, career section, videos) were examined for digital accessibility. The following areas of improvement were identified:
Content-related barriers:
- Non-descriptive or duplicated link texts (e.g. “Learn more”) make navigation difficult for screen reader users.
- Missing alternative text for images and embedded media (e.g. YouTube, Spotify).
- Insufficient labeling of form fields and input elements, especially in job application forms and the newsletter signup.
- Certain structural elements such as headings are not properly marked up (e.g. empty headings).
Technical barriers:
- Partially insufficient color contrast in navigation elements, overlays, or texts on images.
- Input fields without programmatic labels (missing label or aria attributes), especially in booking and contact forms.
- Navigation elements that cannot be reached or operated using a keyboard.
- Missing control options for embedded media (e.g. videos cannot be paused).
Visual / design-related barriers:
- Navigation bars with transparency and insufficient contrast, especially while scrolling.
- Text overlays on images that may be hard to read depending on the device.
- Filter elements or call-to-action buttons (e.g. for booking) are not visually recognizable as interactive elements.
- Font sizes and layouts vary significantly, which can impair readability on smaller devices.
Certain content – particularly embedded Spotify or YouTube elements as well as external booking modules – is provided by third parties and cannot currently be made fully accessible.
4. Justification for Deviations
Some accessibility measures involve a high technical or editorial effort or concern third-party content. In these cases, implementation would currently represent a disproportionate burden as defined in § 8 BaFG.
5. Method of Evaluation
This statement was created on August 26, 2025, based on an internal short audit. The evaluation was carried out using selected pages and based on the WCAG 2.1, Conformance Level AA, with consideration of content, technical and visual criteria.
