Our history
Or “Dream hotels also have earthly addresses”
The hotel got its name “Albona” from the Albona ridge. The mountain is 2,363m high and is located in Stuben - exactly opposite our house. The name “Nova”, Latin for “new”, was added in 1993 (after one year in our possession) to emphasize the emphasize the newness and change of the house.
1958
Built as an apartment house by the Resch family
Conversion to a five-star hotel with 13 junior suites,18 double rooms, 4 single rooms with a
capacity of 66 beds.
1992
the ski and gourmet hotel Albona was opened by the
Hoch family of hoteliers (Hotel Sonnenburg in Oberlech) bought it. Since then, it has been run as a four-star hotel by the then
25-year-old daughter Isabell Hoch.
1993
Renamed to
“The small and fine dream hotel Albona Nova”
New concept and new target group: families and young sporty people. Conversion of the Albona Disco into a children's
playroom and a conference room. The front part of the restaurant can now be converted into a conference room
into a conference room for max. 50 people.
1994
we open the Asian restaurant “Kamsin” (the golden fan).
1999
Conversion of the fitness room into an indoor pool with recreation area. Opening of the à la carte restaurant
“Die Ente von Zürs” with duck specialties. Marriage of Isabell & Dr. Martin Wegener
2000
Birth of daughter Valentina
“Die Ente von Zürs” receives the 1st toque with 14 points.
2002
The Gault Millau awards us the 2nd toque with 15 points
2003
We are getting a fitness room again and our employees are being motivated with new staff rooms.
2004

The Albona Nova is chosen as the only four-star superior hotel in Zürs.
2011
Nomination for the Quality Award
Just in time for the 20th winter season, we are building a new reception area, a modern ski room + a fumarium.
2012
A new indoor area to feel good, relax and play was and play was a major concern for us.
2013
All junior suites with sliding doors are now up to date and the front part of the restaurant near the buffet has been completely remodeled.
2014
This year, the majority of the south-facing junior suites and a new elevator were built.
2015
For our children and young people there is a youth room and a children's playroom, as well as a media room.
2016
Finally our long-awaited Alpine SPA over 320m²!
2017
This year, our employees have been given new rooms and a new staff room. In addition, our last 4 junior suites are now up to date.
2018
At last we have a great new breakfast buffet and the whole restaurant has a new look!
2019
This season ends on March 15, 2020-4 weeks before the end of the season due to the lockdown caused by the corona pandemic. Corona continues! For the first time, the resort and the Albona Nova are not open at Christmas. The start of the season is uncertain!
2022
After being closed for 21 months, we were allowed to reopen in December 2021 and had a good season. That's why we had a new hall with fireplace and bar and 4 new standard double rooms in summer.
2023
25 years of Tom Kriz at the Albona Nova.

From the winter season 24/25, we look forward to welcoming our guests with a beautiful new golden-beige facade.
