Our history
Two words. One feeling. Freedom.
The hotel got its name "Albona" from the Albonagrat. The mountain is 2,363m high and is located in Stuben - exactly opposite our house. The name "Nova", Latin for "new", was added in 1993 (after one year in our possession) to emphasise the newness and change of the house.
1958
Built as an appartment house by the Resch family.
Conversion to a five-star hotel with 13 junior suites, 18 double rooms, 4 single rooms with a capacity of 66 beds.
1992
the ski and gourmet hotel Albona was bought by the hotelier family Hoch (Hotel Sonnenburg in Oberlech). Since then it has been run as a four-star hotel by the then 25-year-old daughter Isabell Hoch.
1993
Renamed "The small and fine dream hotel Albona Nova".
New concept and new target group: families and young sporty people. Conversion of the Albona Disco into a children's playroom and a congress room. The front part of the restaurant can now be converted into a congress room for max. 50 people.
1994
we open the Asian restaurant "Kamsin" (the golden fan).
1999
Conversion of the fitness room into an indoor swimming pool with recreation area. Opening of the á la carte restaurant "Die Ente von Zürs" with specialities around the duck.

2000
Birth of daughter Valentina
"Die Ente von Zürs" gets the 1st bonnet (Gault Millau) with 14 points.
2002
The Gault Millau awards us the 2nd toque with 15 points.
2003
We are getting a fitness room once again and our employees are being motivated with new staff rooms.
2004

2008
The Albona Nova is chosen as the only four-star superior hotel of Zürs.
2011
Nomination for the Quality Award. Just in time for the 20th winter season we build a new reception area, a modern ski room + a fumarium.
2012
A new indoor area to feel good, relax and play was a big concern for us.
2013
Now all junior suites with sliding doors are up to date and the restaurant was completely rebuilt in the front part by the buffet.
2014
This year, most of the south-facing junior suites and a new elevator were built.
2015
For our children and teenagers there is a youth room and a children's playroom, as well as a media room.
2016
Finally our long awaited Alpine SPA over 320m!
2017
This year our staff have received new rooms and a new staff room. In addition, our last 4 Junior Suites are now up to date.
2018
Finally we got a new amazing breakfast buffet and the whole restaurant got a new outfit!
2019
This season ends on March 15, 2020-4 weeks before the end of the season due to the Corona pandemic lockdown. Corona stops! For the first time, the resort and Albona Nova will not be open for Christmas. A season start is uncertain!
2022
After 21 months closed we were allowed to reopen in December 2021 and had a good season. Therefore, in the summer there was a new hall with fireplace and bar and 4 new standard double rooms. 25 years Tom Kriz in the Albona Nova.
2023
If all goes well, there'll be a new facade in summer 23.
